Nottingham CityCare has published its Annual Quality Account for 2025–26. The report explains how we are working to provide safe, kind and high-quality care for patients, carers and local communities.
A Quality Account is a yearly report written by NHS healthcare organisations. It shows what we have done well, what we need to improve and what we will focus on next year.
The 2025–26 report looks back at the work we have done to improve care. It includes how we listened to patients, kept people safe, learned from feedback and complaints, supported staff and worked with partners to make services better.
Some of the things we achieved this year include:
- Listening to patients and communities: We introduced the SHARE Forum so patients, carers, staff, volunteers and community groups can share their views and help shape services.
- Making services fairer: We started using our Health Inequalities Framework. This helps us understand what different communities need and make services easier and fairer to access.
- Keeping patients safe: We improved the way we review safety incidents, learn from them and make changes to reduce the chance of similar things happening again.
- Preventing harm: We trained staff and improved guidance to help prevent pressure ulcers and help staff spot when someone’s health may be getting worse.
- Learning from feedback: We received 13,378 patient survey responses. Most people who responded rated our services as ‘very good’ or ‘good’. We also used complaints and feedback to help improve services.
- Supporting staff to speak up: We continued to help staff raise concerns safely, so we can listen, learn and improve.
Looking ahead:
In 2026–27, we will focus on helping people stay well, responding to safety incidents quickly and consistently, and improving care and support for people with diabetes. These priorities were shaped by feedback from patients, staff, partners and community groups.
The Annual Quality Account helps us be open about our progress, our learning and the areas where we still need to improve. We will continue to listen, learn and work with local people to improve the care we provide.
Judith Douglas, Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Quality, said:
“This year’s Annual Quality Account shows what Nottingham CityCare has done well, what we have learned and where we still need to improve. It also supports our Clinical and Quality Strategy, which is about providing care that is safe, effective, joined up, fair and shaped around what matters to people. I am very proud of our staff, who work hard every day to provide safe, kind and high-quality care for patients, carers and local communities.
During 2025–26, we listened more to patients, carers and community groups through our SHARE Forum. We also started using our Health Inequalities Framework, which helps us make services fairer and easier for people to use. We have continued to improve patient safety by learning from incidents, complaints and feedback. This includes work to help prevent pressure ulcers and to help staff spot when a person’s health may be getting worse.
These improvements support our wider aim to deliver more care closer to home, improve outcomes and help people live healthier, more independent lives.
Looking ahead to 2026–27, we will focus on helping people stay well, responding to safety incidents quickly and consistently, and improving care and support for people with diabetes. We will keep listening, learning and working with our communities so that our care is safe, compassionate, inclusive and meets local needs.”
