On Friday 5 June, Nottingham CityCare were delighted to host our Volunteer Celebration Event at Mary Potter Health Centre, bringing together volunteers, colleagues and partners to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of our volunteers across CityCare.

The event was a great success, with a strong turnout of volunteers who joined us to mark National Volunteers’ Week and reflect on the positive impact they continue to make within our services. The atmosphere was warm and uplifting, with a real sense of appreciation and connection across the room.

We were pleased to welcome Eldeen Thorne, Partnerships Co‑ordinator from Thriving Nottingham, as our guest speaker. Eldeen provided an insightful and engaging overview of the services available to support people across the community. He also highlighted the important role volunteers can play in supporting patients—whether by encouraging self-referrals or signposting them to healthcare professionals who can support them through the process.

We were also joined by Namdi Ngoka, People Director at Nottingham CityCare Partnership, who took time to personally thank our volunteers for their commitment and dedication. Namdi spoke about the invaluable role volunteers play in supporting teams and improving patient experience, recognising that their contribution makes a meaningful difference across the organisation. He then presented certificates of appreciation to volunteers as a token of thanks for their ongoing support.

The event provided a lovely opportunity for volunteers to connect, share experiences and celebrate together. Feedback from those who attended highlighted how much the day meant to them:

“Enjoyed the Thriving presentation – informative and interesting. Also meeting other volunteers. Got a certificate as well
