Nottingham CityCare colleagues joined thousands of people in Nottingham city centre for this year's NottsPride celebrations, taking part in the vibrant parade before meeting members of the public at our information stall in Sneinton Market.
The annual event brought together individuals, community groups and organisations from across the region to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community. Nottingham CityCare was proud to attend for the third time, standing alongside partners and local communities in promoting inclusion, equality and belonging.
This year, our Chair Vicky Bailey, Chief Executive Nic Atkinson and members of the Board were all on hand to staff CityCare stand. They were joined by our Primary Care Cardiac Service who offered free blood pressure checks to visitors and provided practical health advice. Throughout the event, CityCare staff were on hand to promote the wide range of services provided by Nottingham CityCare, as well as career opportunities available within the organisation. This included sharing information about apprenticeships, work experience placements, volunteering opportunities and current vacancies.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with local communities, raise awareness of Nottingham CityCare's services and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive environment for both colleagues and the people we care for.
Nottingham CityCare employs more than 1,200 colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Speaking about the event, Nottingham CityCare Chief Executive Dr Nicole Atkinson, said:
“I am really proud to have attended this year’s Notts Pride to support our LGBTQ+ Staff Network and the rest of our teams at Nottingham CityCare.
We wanted to shout loud and proud about being an inclusive organisation, and we want people to feel as though they can belong, whoever they are, and be a part of team CityCare.
Pride is a celebration of diversity, inclusion and the right for people to be themselves. The recent attack at Pride in Berlin serves as a stark reminder that there is still work to do to challenge prejudice and ensure that LGBTQ+ people feel safe, supported and respected.
