Nottingham CityCare Partnership is proud to announce that we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) and have been awarded the Bronze Award as part of the Armed Forces Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
This national award recognises employers who demonstrate a commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, reservists, veterans and their families.
Achieving the Bronze Award reflects CityCare's formal commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, which we signed in July 2025. Through this, we have pledged to recognise the important contribution that members of the Armed Forces community make to our organisation and society, and to ensure they are treated fairly.
The Covenant makes clear that those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens, with special consideration given in some circumstances, particularly for those who have been injured or bereaved.
CityCare's commitment in action
As part of this commitment, CityCare is actively working to:

Promote being an Armed Forces-friendly organisation, sharing our support with staff, patients and the wider community

Support veterans into employment, recognising the value of their skills and experience

Support reservists within our workforce, including allowing additional leave for training and mobilisation

Support service spouses and partners, offering flexibility around deployment periods

Encourage and recognise cadet volunteers, including time off for training and camps

Support Armed Forces charities and encourage staff involvement
These actions reflect our wider values and commitment to inclusion, ensuring we create a supportive environment for all colleagues, aligning with one of core our behaviours: ‘Inclusive’.
Receiving the Bronze Award is an important first step in our journey. We are committed to building on this foundation and continuing to strengthen our support for the Armed Forces community across CityCare.
By raising awareness, championing colleagues with Armed Forces connections and embedding these principles into our everyday practice, we will continue to honour our commitment and to making a difference every day in the community.
