Centralised Continence Prescribing
Aims and objectives of service
This pilot service, currently extended to 2016, aims to provide a timely, efficient, and tailored prescribing service for patients who use continence products. Through a centralised prescribing model across the city and county Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) it aims to create a good experience for patients and GPs by ensuring appropriate use of continence products can also prevent avoidable hospital admissions.
Patients are referred to the service by their GPs.
All prescribing of continence products is then undertaken by a specialist continence service. Team members with appropriate clinical expertise regularly review and monitor all patients referred to the service and prescribe all continence products.
The service is available to all patients registered with GP practices in Nottingham City.
