Child Health Records CHIS

Aims and objectives of service

This is the service that manages the electronic Child Health Information System for children aged 0-19 years. The information, collated and reported, helps with the smooth and efficient delivery of health and social care for children and young people.

Service description

It manages and controls the entry of all information relevant to child health records including NHS numbers, dates of birth and full addresses.

It records new NHS numbers for newborn babies as part of the statutory birth notification process.

Information is recorded and monitored on: newborn blood spot screening; congenital abnormalities; Looked After Children (LAC); immunisation and the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).

This service forms an integral part of the overall Healthy Child Programme for Nottingham City Children and works closely with Health Visiting, School Nursing and other children's services across Nottinghamshire.

Population covered

All children and young people aged 0- 19 years and registered with a GP within Nottingham City in the Clinical Commissioning Group area.
