Congratulations to colleagues who have completed CityCare’s BAME Leadership Development Programme (cohort one).

Colleagues from cohorts one and two gathered this morning as part of an alumni meeting to discuss how they will positively use what they have learnt form the programme to drive forward ‘teamwork’ in CityCare.

The Leadership Programme is based on the CityCare Leadership Framework and has provided 45 hours of learning and development including face to face development sessions, action learning sets and 1:1 coaching and mentoring over six months.

The areas covered on the programme are:

  • Emotional Intelligence and reflexivity
  • Ambassadors for change and understanding strategy
  • Leading quality improvement and innovation
  • Managing resources effectively
  • Inclusion and the development of self and others

Colleagues are pictured with Chief Executive Lou Bainbridge, Leadership Development Consultant Julian Eve and Health Inequalities Lead Carolin Tomlinson.

Staff on the programme have described the course as “invigorating”, “an opportunity for self-reflection”, “eye-opening” and “emotional”. They also commented that it’s given “people the opportunity come out of their shell and speak up with confidence” and have valued “seeing people’s journeys”.

Participants have taken opportunities to get involved in reverse-mentoring the Executive Team and members of our Board. This week participants will also take place in ‘Recruitment Training’ to ensure CityCare has representative interview panels to encourage diversity in our workforce.

The Leadership programme is designed around the delivery of the CityCare Three Year Strategy 2022-25 but is delivered in a person-centred way to seek to bring out the very best and unique leadership qualities in each participant.
