CityCare is commisioned to run a two-year early intervention lung health clinic. Started in April 21, the Nurse Satellite Unit is led by CityCare’s Integrated Respiratory Service. The scheme comes from the back of a pilot which was run in Manchester, Liverpool, and Nottingham and successfully caught 65% of lung cancers at Stage One.

The scheme is aimed at people between the ages of 55-74, who are current or former smokers and are identified as high risk by their GP. It is estimated up to 32,000 patients in Mansfield and Ashfield qualify, of which 8,700 could potentially go on to be scanned. Mansfield and Ashfield have one of the highest lung cancer and lung cancer mortality rates in the country.

Services include CT Scans, smoking cessation services, as well as providing referrals.
