Improving the life chances of babies and children in Nottingham

Small Steps Big Changes (SSBC) is a programme of services and activities designed to give every child the best start in life. SSBC is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund’s A Better Start Programme and is hosted by Nottingham CityCare Partnership.

Visit the SSBC website.

What we do

SSBC commissions services and provides support to families who live in 4 wards in Nottingham City: Aspley, Bulwell, Hyson Green & Arboretum, and St Ann’s.

SSBC’s services focus on improving outcomes for children. Specifically, helping children to:

  • Eat well and be healthy
  • Talk and communicate
  • Be confident, friendly and understand their emotions and behaviour.

SSBC also works with partners to improve the way that local health, public services and the voluntary and community sector work together with parents to improve outcomes for children.

All SSBC services are free for families and available to anyone living in an SSBC ward with a child aged 0-4.

Who we work with

SSBC works with parents, professionals and organisations, including voluntary and community groups, council bodies and health providers.
