We are a service that offers specialist Level 2 Bladder and Bowel advice and support for children registered with a Nottingham City GP.
Our children's team comprises of three specialist nurses and a support worker.The service is provided Monday – Friday 8.30 – 16.30 excluding Bank Holidays.
The team provides support in community clinics and works closely with Education, Social Care, GPS and Paediatricians. The team are based at Sherwood Rise Health Centre but also hold clinics at Strelley Health Centre, Bulwell Riverside, Clifton Cornerstone and Top Valley Health Point.
Our aim is to support and advise bladder and bowel health and continence to avoid or reduce the issues of delayed toilet training, constipation, soiling, daytime and night time wetting if Level 1 support has been completed with no progress.
Containment products are only supplied to children following an initial assessment if continence is not achieved following advice and the child is over 5 years of age.
Referral Criteria:
This service only accepts referrals from a Health Professional.
- The Child or Young Person (CYP) is registered with a Nottingham City GP
- For constipation and soiling – the CYP is aged over 4 years
- For day time wetting – the CYP is aged over 5 years
- For night time wetting – the CYP is aged over 5 years
- For toilet training – the CYP is aged over 5 years
- For continence containment products - the CYP is aged 5 years to 18 years and had 6 month toilet training programme prior.
- We are unable to accept referrals for behavioural issues eg: CYP who will only poo in a nappy/pull up.
Level 1 support and advice must have been completed prior to the referral including relevant follow ups.
