It is the expectation of the NMC that all registered practitioners support learning in practice. To enable staff to do this effectively, CityCare runs Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor training. If staff have completed their Practice Supervisor training as part of their nursing degree, they need to send evidence to ncp.citycarepracticelearning@nhs.net and won’t need to take this session.

If staff have completed their Practice Supervisor training and to take the next step up and become a Practice Assessor then they just need to attend one of these sessions and they will have the knowledge and skills to feel confident in this role. The sessions run once a month and both are available on the same day so if staff want to complete both they can stay all day or just complete one or the other. These sessions are bookable via ESR.

To summarise, Practice Supervisor is for those new to supporting students in practice, Practice Assessor is for those who have completed Practice Supervisor previously and want to take the next step up in supporting students. Any queries should be sent to ncp.citycarepracticelearning@nhs.net

We are also opening these sessions up to external staff who need to complete their training and are struggling to do so through their own organisation. These sessions are recognised by other organisations and so the training won’t need to repeated. For these staff to find out dates and book on they should email ncp.workforce.development@nhs.net
