Today, we celebrate National Administrative Professionals Day, an important moment to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our administrative colleagues. While not a public holiday, this day reminds us of the incredible impact and diverse skills and knowledge that our administrative staff bring to our organisation.

This day traces its origins to World War II, when a growing need for skilled administrative professionals emerged due to declining birth rates and a booming post-war economy. In 1942, the National Secretaries Association was founded to recognise the vital role of administrative and secretarial staff and to support their development in the workplace.

Soon after, National Administrative Professionals Day was established, ensuring their contributions were celebrated each year.

Namdi Ngoka, Director of People, Communications and Inclusion, said: “Administrative staff are at the heart of everything we do. Their expertise ensures the smooth running of our teams, helping to maintain the high-quality care we provide to our patients. At CityCare, we deeply value the difference they make to our organisation and the wider community.”

Recognising hard work is essential, but showing appreciation makes a lasting impact. Our administrative colleagues go above and beyond every day, so today is the perfect opportunity to return the favour.

If you see an admin staff member around today, consider simple acts of kindness to show gratitude like making them a cuppa or leaving a thoughtful sticky note on their desk.

Let’s make sure every administrative colleague feels valued today.
