As we continue to embed our new CityCare Strategy 2025–2030, and our People Strategy for 2025–2028 which supports its delivery,  I want to take a moment to focus on our second strategic ambition: Our People – Creating a great place to work, grow and succeed.  Watch the film to find out more.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you work in direct clinical care, administration, support services, or you volunteer for us, your contribution is what enables us to make a difference every day to the health and wellbeing of our communities. This ambition is our commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. It aligns with the NHS People Promise and our vision to make CityCare a great place to work.

Why is this important?

We are operating in a time of significant challenge and opportunity with rising demand for healthcare services, meaning we need to continue to innovate. Locally, our communities need care that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and community-led. To meet these challenges, we must invest in our colleagues  through wellbeing initiatives, flexible working, leadership development, and career pathways that help our staff to grow and succeed.

What does this mean?

  • A stronger focus on staff wellbeing and psychological safety.

  • Opportunities for learning, development, and progression.

  • A culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion, ensuring everyone feels respected and supported.

  • Recognition for the incredible work our staff do every day.

What is our People Strategy?

Our People Strategy sets out how we will invest in our staff, our greatest asset, through six core pillars:

  1. sustainable workforce

  2. high performing teams
  3. safe and healthy workforce
  4. compassionate leadership
  5. valuing diversity
  6. building a representative workforce
