Nottingham CityCare formally signed UNISON’s Violence at Work Charter during the Staff Side Partnership Forum, held on Monday 19 January. The signing marked a significant milestone in CityCare’s continued commitment to protecting staff from violence, aggression, and abuse in the workplace.

By signing the UNISON Violence at Work Charter, CityCare reaffirmed its commitment to a set of standards designed to ensure that staff are protected, supported, and listened to. In advance of signing, CityCare evidenced that the required measures were already in place, including some of these below:

  • Robust policies and procedures addressing violence, aggression, lone working and intimidating behaviour.

  • Clear reporting pathways so staff understood how to report incidents and felt confident doing so.

  • Independent support options, ensuring staff had access to confidential help if they experienced violence or aggression.

The signing of the Charter reinforces CityCare’s message that there is no excuse for abuse, and that violence or aggression of any kind toward staff is unacceptable. It also demonstrates CityCare’s continued commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive working environment across all services.

Signing the Charter highlights collaborative working with our Staff Side representatives to tackle this issue and represents a joint commitment to continuous improvement and to ensuring that every member of staff — whether working in clinical settings, in the community, or in office environments — can carry out their role safely.

CityCare will continue to review its progress against the Charter’s standards and maintain open dialogue with staff and union partners to ensure these measures remain effective and responsive to changing needs.
